SPEAKER: Terry Sanderlin, author and Vietnam veteran, The Last American Rebel in Cuba. After four years in the Marines, Terry’s brother, Richard and a colleague ran an arms-and-munition smuggling operation into Cuba, bound for the rebels of Fidel Castro. During the summer of 1958, he trained the rebels of Fidel and Raul Castro in military strategy, tactics, weapon handling, and hand-to-hand fighting. After that, he led a guerrilla band into ten combat operations against the Batista army.
WHERE: Weck’s Restaurant, 3913 Louisiana Blvd NE Albuquerque (Tel: 505-881-0019). Ample free parking. The restaurant is located ½ block south of Montgomery on the west side of the street. We meet in their back room at the rear of the restaurant. Come hungry–very large servings. Separate checks.
